Exporting character values

Question:

How can I export the numeric values from a character data file into Excel?

Answer:

To export the data from BioNumerics to Excel or any other package, simply display the characters (as values or colors) in the Comparison window and select Characters > Export characters

In BioNumerics versions prior to 5.0, first create a Composite data set from the character type. Once you have the composite data set, you can select any set of entries in a comparison, and display the data for the composite data set. Select Composite > Show quantification (values) to display the original quantification values, and then Composite > Export character table. Choosing a tab-delimited file from the appearing dialog box allows the easiest direct import in Excel.

In BioNumerics version 7.0 or higher, an alternative and very flexible export option that works on the selected entries is provided via the File > Export command in the main window.
